Many people visit Mojave in the spring season to view stunning wildflower displays.
Mojave preserves a diverse mosaic of ecological habitats and a 10,000 year history of human connection with the desert. Offering extensive opportunities to experience desert landscapes, the preserve promotes understanding and appreciation for the increasingly threatened resources of the Mojave Desert. This remote preserve encourages a sense of discovery and a connection to wild places.
The National Park Service (NPS) has concluded that the South Kelbaker and Kelso-Cima Roads rehabilitation project in Mojave National Preserve will not have significant environmental impacts. The project, which the park anticipates will take three years to complete, includes major rehabilitation and visitor improvements on 42 miles of the main roads.
Mojave National Preserve, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, invites the public to comment on the draft environmental assessment of a project that will address the deteriorating conditions of Kelso-Cima and South Kelbaker roads.
