National Park Service Issues Finding of No Significant Impact for Fire Island ORV Management Environmental Assessment
PATCHOGUE, NY – The National Park Service has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed Off-Road Vehicle Management Environmental Assessment at Fire Island National Seashore. This decision follows a thorough evaluation of proposed changes to the seashore's driving regulations. This is not the Final Agency Action.
West Nile Virus Detected at the William Floyd Estate, Followed by Negative Detection
Patchogue, NY – West Nile Virus (WNV) has been detected in a mosquito sample for the first time this year in Fire Island National Seashore's William Floyd Estate. The William Floyd Estate is located in Mastic Beach, NY, and is managed by the National Seashore.
Temporary exhibit opens at Fire Island National Seashore’s William Floyd Estate
Patchogue, NY – On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the Old Mastic House at the William Floyd Estate will open for a limited duration exhibit highlighting various aspects of life on the Estate and recent rehabilitation work.
