Many people visit Mojave in the spring season to view stunning wildflower displays.
Mojave preserves a diverse mosaic of ecological habitats and a 10,000 year history of human connection with the desert. Offering extensive opportunities to experience desert landscapes, the preserve promotes understanding and appreciation for the increasingly threatened resources of the Mojave Desert. This remote preserve encourages a sense of discovery and a connection to wild places.
Due to decreased fire danger, Mojave National Preserve and Castle Mountains National Monument are no longer under fire prevention orders. The preserve and monument are reverting to their normal fire regulations.
The National Park Service (NPS) has concluded that the South Kelbaker and Kelso-Cima Roads rehabilitation project in Mojave National Preserve will not have significant environmental impacts. The project, which the park anticipates will take three years to complete, includes major rehabilitation and visitor improvements on 42 miles of the main roads.
