The Warm Springs Wildland Fire Module continues suppression efforts on the Luna Fire (7 acres) within North Cascades National Park Service Complex. Firefighters are being supported by two Type-3 helicopters and a Type-1 helicopter using aerial delivered water.
An additional fire has been discovered within North Cascades National Park Service Complex following the June 24 lightning storm across the area. The Luna Fire (approx. 1 acre) is located in a rock scree southwest of Luna Camp along Big Beaver Trail in steep, rough, and remote terrain.
Fire behavior remains minimal on the four fires within North Cascades National Park Service Complex with slight moisture and cooler temperatures across the area.
On Wednesday, June 24, numerous lightning strikes occurred over several areas across North Cascades National Park Service Complex and surrounding areas. On Thursday four fires were observed within the park complex through air reconnaissance: Borderline, Rigby, View, and Little Beaver Fires.
Effective Monday, June 29, campfires or the ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans, and barbeque grills, are banned in all portions of North Cascades National Park Service Complex, which includes North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area.
